SN# 23161
Model# GT-348? Year 1972?
(The 348 is the only model described as having a diamond plate body and 4 wheels).
This Cart has been in service up until about a month ago. It is losing its battery charge mojo and now drives only about 2000' on a charge. Its present state is it drives - but not very far. It is in need of new batteries. It uses (6) Group GC-2 liquid filled batteries, this is a 36V system.
The body construction is steel, it is a fairly heavy cart as compared to modern carts. The speed control is mechanical, it has copper wiping bars to select speed, there are resistor coil wires of different resistive value to control drive speed. This speed control system while having wear is functioning as intended.
Multiple fabrication modifications have been done over the years to enable the cart to function in a maintenance setting. There is a windscreen and roof which it may not have had originally. The rear cargo deck is home built, the seat and its mounting while sturdy and comfortable is not original construction.
The tires all hold air as they should, the tires were new 2/2024
Known issues:
Batteries are at the end of serviceable life.
The steering idler arm is worn with resulting steering control looseness and wander. The idler arms pivot is a welded in place component and there is no bushing or part replacement procedure to correct this.
The right rear wheel had lubricant crud, the right rear axle is not showing an active leak at this time.
The Brakes are in their OEM configuration, braking is rear wheels only, Both service and parking brake are a combined mechanism acting upon the rear differential pinion. Brake performance of both the service and parking brake action is scant.
Loading assistance by a forklift is available during normal business hours.
