[ View/Ask ]1993 Flxible Metro Transit Bus – Detroit Diesel Powered
This Flxible was one of the last three that was built on our 29-bus order. We traveled to the Flxible factory in Delaware, Ohio to watch it being built along with our other buses. Out of that original group, this is one of only two we still own and the only 35-footer.
Specifications:
- 35 feet long
- 96 inches wide
- Detroit Diesel 6V92 engine
- Allison VR721 automatic transmission
- 36 passenger seats
- Black tinted windows
- 444629 Miles
This bus was removed from regular revenue service in December 2007. A few years before retirement, the engine and transmission were professionally overhauled. After retirement it was occasionally used for special events and parades.
The bus was stored indoors until approximately 2016, when it was parked outside. Exposure to the weather caused deterioration primarily in the engine compartment area due to all the open screens. One exhaust crossover pipe rusted through, the engine compartment ceiling panel rusted away, and the rear start/rear run switch box has severe rust damage with exposed wiring.
Before being parked, the bus ran well. We have not attempted to restart it because it will require repairs before it can safely run again. We have not inspected underneath recently, but we do not believe there is significant rust underneath the coach.
We are pricing this bus close to scrap value. It could serve as:
- A restoration project
- A parts bus
- A unique conversion project
Despite its current condition, it is still a very attractive-looking coach with great styling and tinted windows.
The bus will need to be transported by flatbed.
Included with the sale:
- Original maintenance manual
- Correct factory wiring diagram manual
This is a rare opportunity to own a classic Flxible coach with known history since new. Finding a Flxible bus for sale is getting tougher with every passing year. We would like to see this go to a good home as opposed to scrapping.
Note: We do not ship anything. Buyer must pick up or arrange your own packaging and shipping.
